Greetings!  i am trying to restore a single file from the travan backup tape.  I use the backup or restore wizard, selecting restore files and settings.  I see miniQIC has a list of Media created xxxx
The list in the miniQIC is interesting in that i'm doing a weekly backup and i only see 1 a month in this list, and they are under the miniQIC and not Travan (which is the kind of tape i'm using).  where are the other backups for each month?
anyway i go thru the wizard - select the single file i want to restore.  Then i get a window with this title:  Mount Waiting

and the text is The library is nable to load the media at this time because the drive is in use
blablabla

please wait for the drive to become available. You may cancel this request at any time.

so..... how can i get a single file off the backup?  according to the backup logs i've made many a successful saturday night backup.

thanks for the help -

Have you successfully restored from this backup system in the past?

Do you happen to have a clean machine you could do a full restore to?

mlmcc: several months ago i tried to do this and was successfully able to get to the backuped up files.  i rotate between 3 tapes when i put the other tape in i see the same back ups which doesn't seem right (one a month rather than one for each saturday), not like there is different contents like there should be because its 2 different tapes.  i am always getting the mount waiting message.

no i don't have a machine i would do a full restore to, i just want to get a particular file and just want to make sure i can use the backups in case i really need to (trying to be pro rather than re active).

Does the tape drive include a restore program?

the tape drive came with the server (dell power edge 400sc) i don't know about a specific restore for the tape drive; server managment has a backup screen and on that is the Restore Individual Files.  that's what i've been trying to use.  i am unaware of a restore associated specifically with the backup tape drive

That would (or at least should) be the program.

Without knowledge of the interface I really can't say.  Walk through the menus.  Look for something that says RESTORE A FILE BY FILENAME or something like that
