outret.msi - outlook 2002 problem

Hi there,

Have an annoying problem where I keep getting an install wizard asking for outret.msi, which apparently is on the outlook 2002 cd.

I have outlook xp installed and do not have the cd for 2002. I think the problem may have arisen because of upgrading to office xp, but I have tried uninstalling all office products, reinstalling, no luck.

Can anyone help?

Do you use a handheld (pocket pc)?

No, I think the person who used to own this laptop may have done, although there is no sign of active sync on there or pocket pc

When I try and uninstall outlook 2002 it prompts me for the outlook 2002, and outret.msi so I can't uninstall.

I also tried repairing office xp, but unfortunately still no good.

The problem is that in the past, someone possible installed the standalone version of outlook. So you need that cd. (regarding the previous links I gave)

I then tried uninstalling office xp, and then tried the http://www.soniacoleman.com/FAQs/FAQ00097.htm link but it says I have to uninstall office xp first (I have!)

Grrr!!

Yes I think you are right, so without the cd I can't uninstall outlook 2002.

Do I have to reformat my hard drive?

Try to remove Outlook through the registry.
