    Assisted Solution

If you go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Do you see unknown/error devices in the list? if yes, delete them and reboot. And check if those unknown devices/error comes back. If they do then the right drivers isnt installed, so you will have to find the correct drivers. You can contact compaq for it.

If they dont come back, and it still doesnt work, then there's 2 possibilities, its using a wrong driver, but if its using the wrong one it will show as an error in device manager. Or hardware doesnt exist or is broken.

I have tried every driver that I can get my hands on and nothing seems to help. This Mini PCI card was for a dell laptop. The man I purchased it from said that it would work on HP laptops. But I do keep getting the unknown network adapter in my device mgr. Thanks for the in and the help but it still will not work.

I have found the dell drivers and they seem to work but the card does not pick up a network. I know that I have good air network because I can pick it up with my network card. I'm beginning to think I might have a bad card.

    Accepted Solution

Well if the card can find the wireless router, dont you need to configure the settings? Since most wireless routers are encrypted.
