Showing progress of uploading/downloading data through progress bar and or list box of records

Progess bar...

How do I use a progress bar to show the progress of upoading data from a database?

On the same lines, when I am loading lets say records from table a in the database can I show a list of records during the progress...

ie

Uploading records....
WO2038208...
WO8989304...
WO0943004...
etc

And the same when I am updating the database from the app

Updating db records..
WO493090....
etc..
