cannot connect to port 25 on isaserver

i get a connection failed when i try to telnet to port 25 on my isaserver

only change i made was install dns on my second dc but i did not configure the dns server yet

any suggestions on this problem?

also when i run netstat -na from the command prompt i cannot see port 25 in the list i could this mornign and it was listening but still could not telnet

If your ISA box was listening on port 25 this morning, was it listening on it's internal IP or external IP address?
Since it was listening and now is not, it would appear you have a service stopped (ie IIS not running for a virtual SMTP server, or just that the SMTP server service is stopped)..

Do you have a publishing rule to publish your smtp server in ISA? This makes it available on the web. Also, since your trying to run SMTP directly on the ISA server, you'll need to do some packet filtering configuration as well.

If your actually trying to access an SMTP server that is on an internal network server, and not ISA itself, then review the publishing method here:
