Cannot send or receive e-mail using outlook 2000 through the company VPN

Hi,
i am setting up a laptop at work, (Windows 2000), and have got as far as putting on a dial-up connection, and VPN link. Both of these work fine. However, when opening Outlook 2000, and clicking the send/receive button, nothing happens. It tries to connect to our exchange server, but says 'it is unavailable'. I can ping the exchange server but am now at a loss as to progress. Any ideas?????

Any help is appreciated

Roy,

Check this

Try adding exchange server to your HOSTS file and see what happens

You are a star my friend! I added 'exchange1' to my hosts file, and it worked straight away. I figured initially that i only needed it in my Lmhosts. You have saved me a lot of stress Sunray,

many many thanks!!
