I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

That usually means that the traffic is having trouble connecting to the other server.
Look for replication or other errors in the event logs.

Check whether you can connect to the other server using telnet:

telnet servername 25
Where "servername" is the name of the other server.
Repeat the tests using the FQDN and IP address.

I went through every public folder and system folders and did not see this item: CN=MICROSOFT PUBLIC MDB

CN= is an active directory reference.

Take a look at this article at MS. It tell you how to troubleshoot the replication problems.
