I am no expert in this but I can assist you with this

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps5207/products_feature_guide09186a00801d1e81.html#wp1045852

You can enable the option if you have software version given in there ..

Also try going to

router# and giving the command "show running-config"

In the result , check the first few lines and see if it does say when last configuration change occurred

Thanks sunray, I will look into that first comment. I tried the "show running-config" prior to posting and it does not specify the last config change:(

You want to just know the time when the last configuration was changed or you need to know what was changed ?

what is your IOS version ?

Just the date when it was last changed. We have auditors in:( 12.3(6a)

My gut feeling is that you have got older IOS version and hence running-config doesnot show
last configuration change

Yeah, lrmoore probably knows this one for sure, but I don't recall any function in IOS (I have v12.2) that would tell you the last config change the router underwent. Stuff like that would have to be logged, either using the built-in logging facility (redirected, say, to a *NIX machine running syslogd) or would have to be manually notated (and made verifiable by recording the # of bytes in the config or something like that).

PsiCop,

I was also going to direct lrmoore to this Q. May be my gut feeling is wrong. I donot know. I have 12.2 version in my CISCO 3660 and it doesnot show the last change either when i run show running-config

Interesting..

from what I see here
http://searchsecurity.techtarget.com/searchSecurity/downloads/CCSPSecur_Ch3.pdf

if you have version 12.3 , it should show that. rrose has got 12.3 . may be something else needs to be done..?
