Can Interbase be embedded in a Delphi application?

I need to know if Interbase can be embedded into a delphi application.  My application has to handle over 100000 records.  I am currently using Nexusdb but I am having performance issues.  Secondly, what are the obvious and non-obvious issues with converting to a Interbase database system from Nexusdb?  I saw discussion on this site about interbase as an embedded database but it was over a year ago.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

easily, interbase was originally shipped with delphi, your database size is not particularrly large (unless each record is VERY big). I recommend using firebird (which has an embedded version), which a development of interbase, free and open-source. see for details
