[DBNMPNTW]Specified SQL server not found.

I'm developing an ASP page to connect to a remote SQL server but i'm having a few problems.  I have create the page successfully and it connects and does all it should from my machine, however when i move the script onto another webserver (where it is to eventually reside) I get presented with the following error

[DBNMPNTW]Specified SQL server not found.

Any ideas why this would working on my local machine but not the webserver?

Many Thanks

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The second server can not connect to the SQL server of interest.
Some possible solutions gathered from the web:

Use the SQL Client Configuration utility (from the machine u are connecting)
to create alias server name for the sql server using the TCP/IP protocol
specifying IP and port number.
And use this Alias name to connect to SQL server using TCP/IP

Thanks for your response.  I had previously tried the method you described above without any luck, however after reading another article about this issue it came to light that an incorrect version of the MDAC could also cause the same symptoms so we upgraded MDAC to 2.8 and hey presto... success

Many thanks for trying to help though
