Incredimail - How to restore data from the folder if one has not taken the backup

Hiya all,

I got my system formatted and my all Incredimail data resides on D drive. However, I am in a fix now. I did not took my backup but I can see my data of Incredimail over 200 MB in Incredimail folder in D drive where I saved.

Is there any way to get the data back in Incredimail as before as one does in outlook express by linking to the path and the folder ( e.g. in Outlook one does Tools/Option/maintenance/Store folder).

I cannot find something similar in Incredimail. I cannot restore because I never took backup ever but the data is still there.

Under those circumstances what is the best way one can restore his data back - some 3rd party tool, software etc ?

I am not looking for where my mails are. I know where are they are with .imh and imm extension in message store.

I need to know how can I restore these folders back into Incredimail in a scenario one knows where the folders but have not backed them up with Incredimail backup ?

Hope you understand what I am asking ?

Basically it all to do with restoring when one knows where the data is but Incredimail is not offering any such option ? The restore option only restores the backup folders but not the folders directly
when one has not backed them up.

An urgent response would be highly appreciated.

Cheers and take care

It is mandatory that you prepare the email for a restore/import later. But since you haven't done that, my suggestion to you is -- do a complete installation and configuration of Incredimail and then overwrite the data folder in the new installation with a copy of the old files. Be sure to copy youre old files and DON'T move it (just in case something goes wrong).

This page (http://www.incredimail.com/english/help/im/transfer_incredimail.html) tells you how to transfer Incredimail data files from one installation to another. This is not exactly what you want, but will help you understand how to go about doing it.

Hi Ranjeet,

No Luck :(

I followed the steps the way you recommended.

Did a complete installation on the PC. There was no installation before because it has been rebuilt as I mentioned earlier. Deleted the Message store folder and replaced with the Message store folder in the right path of the C drive ( something like C:\Documents and Settings\Lokesh\Local Settings\Application Data\IM\Identities\{some value}\Message Store)

Sorry but no Luck.

I did browsed the pages of Incredimail home site but they have not posted any FAQ's to that effect.

I still wonder its one of those things that people are so used to in MS Outlook & Outlook Express of changing the path by selecting the right optons that Incredimail did not built such a simple task which anyone can face in this BUG age.  Wonder what's easier the backup and then restore... or just changing / linking the path of the directory.

By the way - just to let you know I am fairly using MS Outlook, Outlook express for fairly 4 years and added Incredimail (for personal use) to the list of other E-mail clients I had be using, but never expected this face such an issue.

This is one of those things I just got stuck in with no Luck. All information to get the data back would be higly appreciated.

Hi Ranjeet,

I have found a work around. I found an Incredible convered which converted all files neatly in folders and subfolders in the form of .eml/ I then created a new profile and transfered all mails by creating te folders and sbfolders first and then dragging all .eml in their respective folders.

I take my points back as I found the solution myself.

I hope you would appreciate that.

With best regards,

Lokesh
