Progressbar to see progress from different clients at the same time...

Im not sure is JAVA is the right code for it, i dont know much about Java only that its server based and thats probably what i need.

I have an intranet website.
We have a lot of customers we weekly get files from their server to ours.
Those files I show on the website with their last ftp download time/ file time.
If a file is not recent enough and a person wants a more recent one, a person can click on a button after the filename to get through ftp a newer version of the file...

What I want is a progressbar on my site, so when someone clicks on the button to get for that specific file a more recent version, everybody who is looking on that intranet site, sees the same progress going from 0-100%.
So with that in mind, everybody whos is looking at that site sees the progress how long they have to wait for the file to come in....

So from every computer viewing this intranet site, people must see the same progress situation.
I also am not familiar with JAVA.
I can do ftp through PHP. So that probably will not be a problem if i can use both codes through each other....(php is also serverside code)
