How to turn off "Invalid Recipient / Undeliverable" reply message

We receive a lot of SPAM mail addressed to invalid addresses within our domain. Our Exchange Server (version 5.5) attempts to respond to each one with an "Undeliverable" message. This results in hundreds of messages placed in the Exchange Server imcdata/out directory, and ties up our server while it attempts to respond to what are almost always invalid return addresses.

Is there a way I can configure Exchange Server 5.5 to NOT attempt to send any "Invalid Recipient" or "Undeliverable" messages in response to incoming mail it receives?

Thanks!

You need to disable SMTP reports from being sent to the Internet.
However I cannot remember where that setting is on 5.5.

I eventually found the solution on a Microsoft newsgroup: It was to install a special NDR (non-delivery report) hotfix from a knowledge base article Q837794: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;837794

There is also an experts-exchange article at: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20921384/Spammer-using-Exchange-5-5-for-mail-relay.html
