I want to post a jobwanted ad on a local newsgroup hourly. It is a very busy newsgroup and I would like to keep my ad near the top. Others have reset the dates on their PC's in order to keep thier ads at the top for a few weeks/months whatever; this is not considered acceptable use and/or etiquette on the boards but it IS very effective at keeping yuor ad above all others. I prefer to follow the rules of the job board, hence my need for a solution to run a news posting app every hour.
This is the command:
newspost -i 220.127.116.11 -z 119 -f email@example.com -n ott.jobs -s "MAN FOR HIRE" -m firstname.lastname@example.org -t /home/jatcan/news.job.post -k /tmp
this is the contents of the file I created to run it:
exec newspost -i 18.104.22.168 -z 119 -f email@example.com -n ott.jobs -s "MAN FOR HIRE" -m firstname.lastname@example.org -t /home/jatcan/news.job.post -k /tmp
I have tried placing this file in cron.hourly and also have tried setting up a "scheduled task" using kcron, both have not worked so far. I am not new to linux but I AM new to cron-never had a reason to use it being a home user.
I am looking for a solution using the script i have created or not....any solution would be good for me, I only need someone to suggest it.
