C/Motif/*nix: Is there a way to resize row/columns in a Row Column construct?

I've created a semi-spreadsheet using xmRowColumnWidgetClass, where the title row is comprised of PushButtons and the remaining rows are TextWidgets. Is there a way to give the user the ability to resize rows/columns as can be done in Excel, etc.?

Hi jimdgar,

The good news is: Yes, there is a way. The bad news: It doesn't come for free, you have to implement it yourself.

Sorry for the joke, but it is true, you have to find your own way to resize the columns. There is nothing built in that would allow you to resize.

Pls close this question. I consider the single response to be flippant and not worth the points.

I don't know what you expected. You never came back to ask for any further comments. If you want the code to resize a homemade spreadsheet than you have give us more than just the question. I have no idea how much experience in X/Motif programming you have. The help you are asking for can go from an idea on how to resize down to explaining how button events work.

Until then my comment stands: You have to do it yourself.

Another option is to use a higher level library like TrollTech's Qt (http://www.trolltech.com). They have a Table object built in.

modulo,

With all due respect I don't see how you can state that "griessh did a fine job here". I come to this forum for direction on how to solve problems, or pointers to where I can research the issue. Almost everyone who has responded to other questions I posted offered suggestions, but for this question griessh provided no suggestions at all, and did not ask for any further information. It wasn't until one month later when a moderator suggested closing the question that griessh made any constructive suggestion, and by that time I had moved on.

I don't know why you won't talk to me.

I told you in my first posting that there is nothing build in to X/Motif to do what you asked for. I told you that you have to do it yourself. From http://www.experts-exchange.com/Q_21117085.html I know already that you are not a beginner in X/Motif, so I had to assume you know what to do. YOU did not ask for anything else, you did not tell me if the response was all you needed. Excel is an app that has the resize built in, A RowColumn widget is exactly that, a widget.
When you complained about my comment after Tincho's reminder I tried to give more direction.
How can I be helpful if you are not telling me what you need?
