Installation of OS/2 Warp 4 onto contemporary hardware problem
We have been able to install OS/2 onto a computer with a Soyo SY-P4I 845PE ISA motherboard, for details such as onboard IDE controller etc visit http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=194 , VGA video card and P4 3GHz processor with all non-legacy devices (ie USB) disabled in the bios settings to avoid compatibility issues.
The installation process appears to complete successfully, HOWEVER when the computer is rebooted and we attempt to run OS/2 off the hard drive, the OS/2 Warp graphical screen loads and then moments afterwards a text screen with black background comes up stating:
"IBM Corp. Bus Master IDE Driver for OS/2, Version 3.02
A proram in this session encountered a problem and cannot continue."
In then proceeds to dump a bunch of variables onto the screen (which can be provided upon request if they are nessesary)
Our theory is this could be due to its inability to use the integrated IDE controller on our motherboard. Which is strange because the setup program was able to access and copy files to the drive.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!

Dan,
I am unable to get to http://hobbes.nmsu.edu to obtain the service packs.
I have replaced both IBM1S506.add and OS2DASD.DMD with the current Danis drivers.
OS/2 throws the error at the DANIDASD.DMD.
Error information is as follows.

integrarx,
Tell me what version warp you are using, its very clear that this trap error is a software error on a hardware component
I dont know if you have other hardware but if so please try to use an other harddisk
The fixpacks you can find at:
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?sh=1&button=Search&key=fixpack&stype=all&sort=type&dir=%2F
You have to install them otherwise whe dont know if this is a solved problem.
Can you maybe post also your config.sys here to check it
Tell me also the following info:
Exacly the hardware you use brand name and size
Version Warp
if there are any other errors after you press ALT f2 at startup or is the computer just crashing at the moment it see the driver.
Check also that in the config.sys there are no strange characters used like ; ' etc

BTW
the problem can still be the controller or the HD OS/2 will normal install and after initilizing the drivers it traps (nothing strange there)

Dit you install all the new service packs for OS/2 ?
find them at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu.
The error you get looks like that the harddisk you are using is to big for adressing
my question is can you tell me a little more about the hardware and give me some more info about the trap error you are getting is this trap c,d ,e ??
I think the best way to start is first to boot the machine holding alt-f2 and check for any errrors
furthermore replace the IBM1S506.ADD and download at
http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?sh=1&button=Search&key=IBM1S506&stype=all&sort=type&dir=%2F
the latest version of the danis driver what will have much better harddisk support
Good-Luck
Dan
