tar file problem

What is the reason that makes file naming in linux and windows differnet that means why when i extract a files from my.tar.gz file with files containing  INSTALL and install be overwritten on windows and not on linux???

Hi b123coder,
On linux filename are case sensitive so if you have a file called 'install' and you try to save once called 'INSTALL' on linux it will save it but on windows it thinks it is the same file and will prompt to overwrite it.
