offer optimizer part 2

My computer has been overtaken by the offer optimizer pop-up thing.  I have searched google and this forum looking for an answer.  The problem was dealt with here:
but none of the files, processes or registry keys mentioned were found on my XP home system.  This leads me to think that the offer optimizer has been revamped with new file names, processes, etc.  Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi dougteets,

    Check for spywares and virus in the system

    virus scanner:
    When you scan for virus,do all the below in both Normal mode and Safe mode.

    a) Update your virus definitions in your Anti-virus and run it.

    b) Download Stinger from here :  and run it.

    c) Use this Online virus scanner also :

    Please donot run spyware before running Anti-virus tools and making sure there is no virus in the machine.
    Run spyware both in Normal and Safe mode to be sure that the system is free of spywares,adwares and Malwares.

    Some of the experts here have helped in compiling all the important spyware tools and they are listed in this thread

    My recommendation would be to start with Spybot ,Ad-ware ,CWshredder.After installing them, First Update them and then run

    Once running all the above tools and others given in that thread, download and run Hijackthis.
    Download Hijacthis from here
    Get the log from Hijackthis and save the log and paste it here to analyze it.
     The analyser site is used so that you donot gum up the thread with the entire log.

    Check this tutorial aswell :

    Remove the bad ones that the site reports. If it says unknown process, then use a search engine to check if those are bad ones. If bad remove them , if you still cannot find then post those files alone here.

    Remove temporary internet files, folders and cookies

    Also remove windows Temp files going to

    1) Start --> run --> typein:  %systemroot%/temp
    2) Start  --> run --> typein: %temp%

    Hello dougteets =)

    Try some basic things first :)
    First use msconfig to untick unwanted progrmas as described here >>
    Then Download these tools and install them:
    AdAware ==>
    SpyBot  ==>
    CoolWebShredder ==>
    Stinger ==>

    Turn off ur System Restore before cleaning the system if its WinME\XP >>
    Then Run all of them one by one in safemode and delete everything they detect.
    Then delete the temporary internet files and history of IE
    and run Disk Cleanup on ur hard drive to delete those temp and junk files.
    Restart back in Normal Mode to check for the problems now ?? :)

    If still the same problem then Download HijackThis v1.98.2 from here, run it and Save the LOG file:

    Then Post that log at this site >>
    and it will automatically analyse it for u,,, Fix the entries which it labels as Nasty :)
    To Fix, check the lines in Hijackthis scan and click on Fix Checked !!

    HJT Log Tutoriol >>

    CAUTION: Before fixing the entries in hijackthis, make sure that they are really Nasty and can be deleted, better u first research for it on Google and then when u will confirm that they shud be deleted, Fix them. And whenever u run Hijackthis, run it from a New folder on ur desktop, so that in case of any problem, u can take advantages of its created backups of fixed items. And in case if u still face problems in dealing with it, just analyse ur log at the above site, and then scroll down where u will see a Save Analyse button, hit it and it will save ur Log Analysation, then copy the link of that page and paste it here, and we will check it for u :)
