Cable Bandwidth

I am using cable, the area that I live in can only have cable.  So, the speed has been slowed down recently.  I was wondering if there is a way to spped up (maybe this is a dump question..)  Thanks

    If your part of the connection (your own modem, NIC, etc) is up to snuff, then there is nothing you can do
    Cable shares bandwidth (most do anyway)
    and the more people on, the slower the connection. There is nothing you can do (legally)
