scsi controller/cable card for Compaq Dat tape driver

HI,

I've not used scsi devices before so need a push in the right direction with this one!

Recently got a Compaq DAT tape drive. It has a 68-pin Wide Female External connector on the rear which 'SCSI SE' above it.

I'm wanting to use this tape drive for test/proof of concept purposes - rather than company sensitive data, so the price of an adaptor card is more important than the speed.

I need  some suggestions as to a suitable scsi controller card as i do not currently have one. I prefer to use one of adaptec products such as 2940's if it's possible ...are these any good? If not so which model u prefer? Also I would like to know the appropriate cable that I could use to connect both the controller and the tape device…

However, i would like to know the different scsi controller card 'features' which i could use with this drive.

Thanks in advance

Hi Abu,
A good solution for small businesses or home users is the Adaptec 29160N6 as this is quite a cheap solution as well as stable and good performance for money.
There are other, more expensive SCSI controllers, i.e the new Ultra Drives but the price is somewhat different.

Thanks for your kind replay ...
I will choose ether 2950uw which has 60 pin connector so I can directly connected it to my tape..
With 68 pin male to 68 male cable, because the 29160N6 can't be connected to me tape .I just make sure of that through the cable selection  jave applet withch the adaptec provide at their site..

So thanks any way...
