In my opinion that is the easiest way to determine if the system will see the full 300GB. If the drive shows as smaller than you can work on it from there.

Hello, this is another new question spawned from my orginial.<br />

I purchased from best buy last night ( online ) a 300GB maxtor 7200rpm Hard-Drive and Microsoft: windows XP Professional upgrade w/SP2.<br />

I currently have an 40GB hard drive with Windows XP Home Edition w/SP2.<br />
<br />
1. My question is that, How ( in easy steps ) do i Install the new hard drive?<br />

and<br />

2. How easy is it to then install the new operating system, on a fresh, brand new hard drive?<br />

* i was told that the computer would identify it as 128gb???? how do i avoid this? *<br />
The points are 500, because i find this harder, then i thought it would be. And paying $99.95 is better then paying 150+ for somebody else to do. Thanks guys! + gals!
