Lotus 6.5 - looking for approve4.ntf

I am trying to create an approval cycle database in Domino 6.5.  ALthough I've done this in earlier versions of Domino, the Approval Cycle template seems to have disappeared from version 6.5.  Can anyone help me out and send me the template, it has been eradicated off the web so it seems and not available at all.

I don't know that one ?  Are you sure that wasn't a custom developed application ?

But if you can't find it on your new server, it should be there on your old server. Just copy the template over....

cheers,

Tom

Ok, so I looked it up.  This is a R4.5 template apparently, but hasn't been around anymore since R5 (as far as I can tell).

That could be because it's completely obsolete .... I suppose you could download something to get you started on the sandbox (http://www.lotus.com/ldd/sandbox.nsf ).  Anyway, using an ancient template to start developing on R6.5 is not a good idea - there will probably be easier and better ways of doing things now....

cheers,

Tom

Yeah I guess so. It's just that we have a trial test of Notes and we are in the process of looking for a tool that can serve as a CRM and also be used as a WF program. I have no notes or Java programming experience so I started from scratch last week and have been looking everywhere for data on Notes and on other systems. Preferably we would like somethng that had both characteristics, maybe Oracle might be a possibility and be a tad more intuitive that Notes, I dunno.  Can someone offer some insight?

There is a CRM system available at http://OpenNTF.org -- don't know if it includes workflow.  There might be a couple of other templates there that fit your demonstration needs.  There is also c.sales, which is a discontinued CRM prouct, whose publisher claimed he was making it available as open source.  The code was never posted to any web site, but I think he posted somewhere that he would give it out to anyone who asked.

Finally, if I can dig it out from wherever I've hidden it, I can provide you with the R4 template.  Using it is a little nasty though... the workflow logic system is generic, but you have to develop a custom form to drop it into.  You need Designer to do that.  The workflows it supports are decent, but by no means comprehensive, and the notification types have limited options.  Look at some of aeonflux2's queries fo rexamples of the needs to customize.
