Which files are need for a VB database program to work independently ?

Hello,

How I can understand which files are needed for a program which I wrote with VB6 ? I copied some ocx files along my exe file to another PC but it still needs some other files and doesn't work properly. Main function of my program is getting information from database and updating it.
The files that I copied are MSADODC.OCX , MSDATGRD.OCX , MSFLXGRD.OCX , MSHFLXGD.OCX.
I used ADO data controls.

Thank you,

If you open the Project file (.vbp) in Notepad you will be able to see which files are needed. Also you should have MDAC installed which can be downloaded from Microsoft.

Or you can use the "Package and Deployment" (PDCMDLN.EXE) wizard to compile your project into an installation procedure. It will automatically detect and package your project's dependencies.

And you say you copied the files, but did you register them?

Here is a good place to get familiar with control registration.

http://ccrp.mvps.org/index.html?controls/ccrpcontrols.htm

These packaged controls also include a utility named ccrpregutil.exe which can be associated to OCX files so that when you doubleclick an OCX it will use this included EXE to automatically register them.

It was a real handy tool back in the day.  Hope you find it useful.  The controls are pretty handy a few of them as well.

just  download and install MDAC 2.8

All MDAC's from 2.6 onwards don't include JET drivers, if you use JET, you need either MDAC 2.5 or to download the drivers seperately.
