Need to get a listbox value when not selected

I often get column values from a listbox when an entry is highlighted, but I have a need to query for instance the first row and third column of a listbox on my form when there is nothing selected.  How would I do that?

    Use syntax like this:

      varValue = <listbox>.Column(2, 0)
