Register a dll directly from HTML page

I have a dll file that adds a toolbar to IE. Is there a way to deploy it like an ActiveX dll where it just informs the user that the dll is signed and downloads and registers it or do i have to create an installer package like yahoo does.

Im hoping to do it like mywebsearchbar does it. No lengthy install process just click on a link and its good to go. (my company's users arent very smart with computers and the more the clicks, the more customer support calls i will get) :)

Thanks.

You can do this by setting the CODEBASE in the object tag.

The CODEBSE should point to a .cab file that will install (copy and register) your components before loading the activeX.

As for signing your component, this requires paying some money to a company like VariSign.

My dll isnt an activeX dll. It's more of a BHO. Is that an easy conversion?

Even if you are building a Browser Helper Objects. I think you could use this same install method. We use the object tag to run a full blown installer.
