"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The only time I have seen that error using Veritas, I had to install their driver for my tape drive. It was the only solution, but being that I have no idea what you are using hardware-wise, it may not be the solution for you.

The following may sole the problem. Try to use DirectAssist. It has a diagnostics capability within that software that might guide you through to a solution:

As for the 'Log' files you may find it in the 'Event Log' and in the 'Alerts' section within the management client.

Good luck
