OWA Can't find Recipients in Contacts

I have an Exchange 2000 Server.

The users are complaining that even though in their web options they have Contacts selected for the default Check Names First Against, they still can't search their contacts.

I've tried it out and it just won't switch over to using their contacts, it uses the Global Address List.

I have SP3 loaded, but thats bout it, not sure if i need anything else to patch it up.

I found this site and tried selecting the option in the outlook client but it didn't fix the problem.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Re you using the "contacts folder" from your Exchange Mailbox or the "contacts" from the Personal Folders?

As described the menitioned article, the latter won't work! OWA connects only to the GAL or the "contacts" from your EXCHANGE Mailbox.

>Outlook Web Access, however, doesn't let you designate a folder for resolving addresses. Outlook Web Access uses only the global address list (GAL) and your mailbox Contacts folder to resolve names.<

It's the contacts in the Exchange Server that is in the exchange mailbox and not the personal folders.
