problem in the tapedrive

hello,
i have tapedrive sony ait2 sdx500c.
this drive is installed on windows 2003 in manage computer.
i back up small folder but for large folder i have problem.
after start back up i get this error
"an inconsistency was encountered on the requested media"

please help me

Sounds like a typical media error, the drive is reporting that it can not write to the tape.
This could be due to a bad tape, contamination in the drive, a problem with the drive itself, or environmental such as heat or dust.
