hello,
how can I format tape drive with NT back up in windows 2003?
my tape backup is sony ait2 sdx500c.

You do that via "administrative tools, computer management". Select Storage, Removable Storage and then click yourself to the tape you want to format/erase. Right click on it, select task and say "free".

Rindi's answer is correct as long as you can see it in Windows without an extra driver (my Seagate tapedrive is inaccessible without a Veritas driver for some silly reason.
