Hi All

How to replicate DNS from a child domain from the main DNS

Would be grateful if anyone could give a step by step

    Basically, this should happen easily with a few settings. Are you using AD-integrated DNS? Here is what I usually do:
    1. When doing a DCPROMO on the first child domain controller, I point the TCP/IP DNS setting to a DNS server in the parent domain before the DCPOROMO.
    2. After DCPROMO, install DNS on the Child DC. Keep the TCP/IP DNS setting pointing to the DNS server in the parent domain.
    3. Wait until DNS records have replicated, then change the TCP/IP DNS setting on the child DC to point to itself.

    If you have already done the DCPROMO and can't redo it, at least uninstall dns and follow steps 2-3.
