- Look at the Hashtable code
- Decide what main data storage you're gonna use (HashMap, List, whatever else....)
- Implement the functions that exist on Hashtable

are you looking at extending java class like AbstractMap,,,etc,  and write your own hashtable class or like the one mentioned in the above link by objects?
