Authentication methods on MS ISA 2000

Hi all,

I need to understand the authentication methods ISA 2000 uses (I know about NTLM and Basic (clear text)).

I would like to understand how exactly NTLM works and also what is a flow of authentication between a browser and ISA 2000 in a proxy mode.

Flow is like this: HTTP client-> MS ISA2000 -> Web Server.  and back.

Points needed clarification:

1. NTLM - how it works?
2. Priority and rollback of authentication methods on ISA 2000.

Thanks in advance.
