Deployment with Serial?

I have been creating software for a while now..I have always created software for my company and didn't require a person to enter a serial. Now I have to create software for another company and will require them to enter a serial during the install.
I'm using installshield to package the software but I'm not to sure one how to request a serial. will I have to include a file that holds all the serials or is there software I can use to do this for me.

any help will be helpful.

Hi moralju,
No you generally do not keep all the SerialNumbers.
The easeast way is to make an Algorithum. If the keys enetered are accepted by that algorithum . Thats ok
e.g. An algorithum could be, make five boxes like Windows XP key and each should have five Alphabets, the sum of each alphabet ascii in a box should be some number as of previous boxes but the char should not be the same.
Usually softwares use much sophisticated algorthums which are hard to crack

Cheers!
