Edit the properties of the Explorer shortcut; in the Target field, add '/e,"D:\rive and Path\"' (without the single quotes) after explorer.exe; if the path to your directory contains spaces, it needs to be enclosed in quotes. To open Windows Explorer with the left tree expanded at the root of the C: drive, for example, use
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,"C:\"
