deploying applications with crystal reports

Hi all there
I develop an application that must show and print some reports. I choose for this VB.net and crystal report that is shipped with VS.net 2003 . I have no problems in coding.
the problem is raised when I need to run my application one an other computer... how can I change the server name and other credintail information in my .rpt files so that it will be compatible with the real world invronment.
one more thing is that how can I install the crystal report engine component in computers without installing VS.net this an other problem that I expected to be raised in future in my application

thanx all

You need to install Crystal Reports run-time on the client machines.

Read the bottom part of this page (http://www.businessobjects.com/products/reporting/crystalreports/licensing/details.asp). A lot of info that you will find useful.

This page also has good info: http://dotnetjunkies.com/WebLog/richard.dudley/archive/2004/05/25/14449.aspx

Basically, you need to install Crystal Reports run-time on the client machines. You should also consider specifying the connection information in a DSN, so that your program doesn't have it hardcoded and if passwords etc change, you only need to update the DSN.

You can package your application along with crystal report merge modules. This can be downloaded from http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/FilesAndUpdates/cr_net_2003_mergemodules_en.zip
and no need to install VS.NET on all computers.

The process varies slightly for different type of databases. See this: http://www.bestcode.com/assets/docs/bcAuthenticate/help/html/configure_dsn.html
