Does PayPal make my stores look less reliable/cheesey?

I have several stores for which I use PayPal to collect credit card orders.

I'm worried that I may be losing sales as customers may think PayPal is only for "super small and therefore less reliable" retailers.

I'm considering signing up with 2checkout.com or getting a Yahoo shopping store.  :(

It will be a HUGE amount of work for me to switch to another merchant account service now . . . .

help!  What do you guys think?

I'm going to award 500 points so I can split it up and leave this question open for a while . . .  so I can get a range of opinions.

Thanks!  April

Hi April,

It is a matter of opinion, as you say, but I regard a PayPal solution to be a less professional one.  I think it is inevitable that you will lose buyers.  www.2checkout.com and www.worldpay.com are two alternatives.  The ideal is to get your own merchant account, but you need to reach a certain transaction threshold to make it worthwhile (because of the fees involved).

You'll probably get some good opinions on this (esp. from coreybryant).  In the meantime, this thread deals with some of these issues: www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Online_Marketing/Q_21115270.html.
