I have a shared mde file and I am unable to open it  error is "The Microsoft Jet database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time." and I have tried to repair via Admin tools OBDC can not repair or compact this file.  jetcomp same errors "there has to be a recovery method for this thing.

1. reebooted servers and workstations -nothing
2. check for *.ldb file - does not work
3. am able to recover using a demo recovery software (demo mind you) so I can see the data.
4. tried MS query via excel same error.
5. jetcom - "error comapcting database"

    Accepted Solution

exit the database and delete .ldb file.

Also, open it holding shift key.  After entering to a window code, compile all the module and save it.  Now compact and repair and give it a try.  A hard boot of the computer might help the situation as well.

The reason I asked to search for ldb was for the fact ldb is not supposed to be present in the directry after closing the database for Access97 and above.  If it is present, it indicates some problem.  I offered what I knew.  There are many other good expers possibly enjoying their holidays (in USA).  You could keep this question open until monday (us time) and request it to be closed and post a new question to get a large number of experts attention.

I am sure you check to make sure there are no human user but did you check to see if Access has an account that is being used by the system example backing up your system of accessing a web page were the session is not working ect?
