stop 0x000000008e when starting windows

hi!
I have a machine running Windows XP home SP1 (all the security updates installed). everything worked fine until i started the computer two days ago. without having changed any hardware or software, about every 2.5 seconds the system would lock up for about half a second. If you moved the mouse in a circle you could watch it freeze, come loose, freeze, come loose, etc. then i tried to start a game (which had been working fine for weeks) and an error message popped up which said it couldn't find the right cd in my cd drive, eventhough it was there.. so i rebooted the computer but after it had booted normally and was finshed with loading the icons on my desktop it would automatically reboot.. this went on for like ten minutes.. i then disabled the automatic reboot function on system errors and now i persistently get the bluescreen (with all the standard instructions like if this happened the first time i should reboot etc..):
***STOP : 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x80596C85, 0xF9C419A0, 0x00000000)
nothing else.. no driver, filename etc. is listed.
if i start in safe mode everything works fine.
what i've done so far:
-virus scan (mcafe 7.1 with newest DAT file and engine, plus scan with newest mcafee stinger)
no infected files
-run chkdsk /r in recovery console: one or more errors were found and fixed.
-used the Last Known Good Configuration feature. didn't work
-changed graphics card, removed sound card, removed all other PCI devices
-removed all peripheral devices (except monitor, mouse, keyboard)
-took out one of my two memory sticks at a time
-removed the IDE cable from my cd and dvd drive (one at a time)
-removed all the programs from startup folder and from the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ registry key
none of this worked, i keep getting the same BSOD at startup.
here my ntbtlog.txt (my windows and most programs are in german.. i don't know if that might cause confusion..):

Did you try rolling back to a previous Restore Point?
Are you running Zonealarms?  If so, check for a patch or an updated version and see what that does.
I want to know analysis all of your system event 1001 records which will help me to diagnostic your problem.

Control Panel --> Adminstrative Tools -> Event Viewer --> System --> Record 1001
Copy the content of all the record 1001 and paste them back here

ok, i finally got the problem fixed!! :-)) Thanks a lot cpc2004 for your posts! i downloaded the newest version of nvidia drivers, installed them in safe mode, restartet the computer and everything was back to normal! i really didn't think that my graphics card was causing the error since i tried to boot with my brother's geforce 4 card and that didn't work.. and now i'm kinda wondering how the drivers can become outdated from one day to another causing a BSOD..?? anyway, doesn't really matter anymore..thanks again!
Hi joegeljoegel,
I'm glad to hear that you've resolved the BSOD problem. XP2 SP2 has major change at some of their core component, a lot of device driver is incompatible with SP2. nVidia Display Card Driver is one of them. I find out this problem two months ago, after some of our clients upgraded to XP SP2 and their windows kept on crashing. I studied their minidumps and found out the nVidia Display Card is the culprit. After they upgraded the display card driver and the BSOS disappeared.
