safari and IE for Mac problems with iFrame and Contenteditable

I am using IFRAME and contenteditable to implement a HTML editor within a piece of webzine software.  Works A-OK for IE5 or IE6 on Windows, does not work at all on IE 5.x or Safari on iMac.  Is there some specific browser dependent code one needs in the javascript or the like?  I am using the "BCE" javascript HTML Editor freeware for the implementation.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

for IE it needs to be 5.5 or higher.  As for Safari, there were rumors this summer that it would support conteent editable in the next release, but only for the lastest version of the OS.  I'm not much into the mac community, so I don't know much more than that.
