DOS Game Sound

This may be more of a hardware/driver question but I need to know what driver to set my DOS Games.  I tried Windows Sound System and Sound Blaster Compatible my sound chipset is integrated on my motherboard and it is a
C-Media CMI8738.  I have it set to stereo speakers and have no future plans for surround at this time.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

How are you running the game? DOS bootdisk?

You might need to find the DOS drivers for the soundcard and modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files to run them.

If you have a desktop icon to run the game, you might check into this?
Right click Icon
left click Properties
left click Program tab
left click Advance button
click the MS-DOS Mode box
click Specifiy a New MS-DOS Configuration
and add the pointers to the DOS sound card drivers there (instructions should be included with drivers)
click OK

There is no advanced tab, and the only driver I have is a windows driver downloaded from the internet. I decided to be nice and make this question worth 75 points.

Oops, I forgot to mention that the sound chip is sharing Interupt 10 with my NIC.

DOS drivers should be on at least a few of these:

You might want to just make a DOS bootfloppy with the drivers on it, if you can't make ME load them. Not what you want to hear, I know. Rebooting is a pain for one game. I don't have my ME systen running, so I  can't really experiment with this problem.
