VPN setup hardware and software

I have three computers running the following: Win2k, XP Home and XP Pro.  I would like to set-up a VPN Server so others can log-on and access my MSDE database.  This will be used occasionally only so if there is only one connection at a time possible that will probably do.

I prefer to set it up on the Win2k machine which is behind a D-Link Airplus Extreme router.

What hardware changes do I have to make do do what I want?

Although I am not too tech savvy I will try implementing your software solutions so maybe we can skip that for now.

Thanks,

by my understanding, D-Link Airplus Extreme router is not PPTP pass through router. so, you may need another router and setup dmz.

OK, so it sounds like the router is the only hardware obstacle.  What is an affordable suitable router I can use.

Thanks,
John

for VPN, linksys BEFVP41 is good choice.
