The default resolution and refresh rate are too high on DECalpha running OpenVMS V7.2

I have a HP DECalpha server, runing OpenVMS V7.2.
The default resolution and refresh rate are too high. No monitor in my home can display anything when it goes into windows interface. Anyone can give a hand how to change it. By the way, I still can remote access the server wih Compaq PathWork.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are a number of articles on HP's "OpenVMS ask the wizard" site that speak to this issue. They most common refrain is: it depends on the card - different cards afforded different ways to set the display characteristics.

That means your first task will be identifying which display adapter you have, then find the appropriate wizard or FAQ section that tells you what to do. Examples:
