drive mapping problem

I am using windows 2000 pc. I am mapping drives from windows 98 and windows 2000 machines. After mapping and using the machine for an hour or so the mapping drive gets dis-connected. I am facing the same problem in one of my other windows 2000 pc. Is there any setting to be checked or any back door virus or worm is doing the damage. kindly advice

When you say "disconnected" do you just see a red x on the mapping in my computer? Can you still get into it by double clicking? It is a known issue in 2000 machines that they disconnect after a period of inactivity, but reconnect when accessed. See if this article helps:;en-us;297684
I've seen problems like this when the NIC is not hard set to the speed of your network.  A duplexing mismatch can sever connections to all kinds of network resources.
