drive mapping problem

I am using windows 2000 pc. I am mapping drives from windows 98 and windows 2000 machines. After mapping and using the machine for an hour or so the mapping drive gets dis-connected. I am facing the same problem in one of my other windows 2000 pc. Is there any setting to be checked or any back door virus or worm is doing the damage. kindly advice

When you say "disconnected" do you just see a red x on the mapping in my computer? Can you still get into it by double clicking? It is a known issue in 2000 machines that they disconnect after a period of inactivity, but reconnect when accessed. See if this article helps:

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make it more clear. I am mapping a drive from windows 98 machine in windows 2000 maachine. so if I set the registry valves will there be any affect of this disconnection problem. Yes what you said is correct. I get red cross mark over the mapping drive and when i click it it gets connected. kindly advice
