mp4 file converted with QT 6.5 for windows won't play back on Mac computers

I converted a video captured with a quicktime compliant digital camera to MPEG-4 using QuickTime 6.5 for windows to compress the size for convenient downloading from a web server.  It plays back fine on PCs using QT player 6, but won't play on Macs with QT 6.  This doesn't make sense to me, and I don't have a Mac to see what the problem is, I've only heard there is a problem from a few people with Macs trying to view the file.

    I believe a better solution would be to convert the file to MJPEG which basically what QuickTime is - but it is a Sorenson version of MJPEG if memory serves.  A standard MJPEG will work fine in all cross-platforms (Linux included)

    What I did to preserve the MP4 format (which is considerably more compact!) is embed this code in to the web page:

    <object classid="clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B" codebase="" height="260" width="380">
        <param name="src" value=" dance demo.mp4">
        <param name="autoplay" value="true">
        <param name="controller" value="true">
        <embed height="260" width="380" src=" dance demo.mp4" pluginspage="quicktime/download/"><span class=" type="video/quicktime" controller="true" autoplay="true">

    Now, all works fine with everyone trying to view the files.  It still seems absurd that an Apple product file couldn't be read by an Apple computer, but could be read fine by Windows Media Player!

    Thanks for you help, I'll glady give you the points for the advise for next time.
