Outlook 2003 with .pst on network drive issues

Hello,

I have Outlook 2003 accessing a .pst file over a network drive.  What will happen is I'll be working normally, sending e-mails...et cetera.  Then I go to browse my .pst file and I get an access denied error message.  I have to close outlook and go back into for my .pst file to become available.+

Operating System: Windows 2000 SP4
E-Mail Client: Outlook 2003 with all updates
Anti-Virus: NAV 9.0 Client
Exchange Server 2003

I'm also not running Outlook 2003 in cached mode.

So is your exchange server emails being stored in Local PST as apposed to Mailbox ?

When you say your outlook 2003 is accessing a PST file , you have ur emails in that PST and it is in the network drive right ?

when you say you browse your PST , wat exactly are you doing..

When your outlook is open , can you go to file > open > outlook data file and browsing that way ?

SR..

I had this happen when I was using Outlook 2003 to access the old style PST files.

Did you create the PST in Outlook 2003 or is it from a previous version?  If it is an older file I would suggest creating a new PST by selecting "Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst)", not "Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst)".  Then import the data from the old PST into that file.

That fixed it for me!

My mail is stored on the Exchange 2003 server, but all old messages that I save are stored in a .pst file.

The .pst file is setup within my Outlook profile and opens when I open the outlook client.

I believe he is referring to browsing within the PST file.
