Need a quick and dirty port scanner

Anyone know of a port scanner that can load fast and just give the basics.  I use look@lan but it takes too long to set up and can make a mess when uninstalling.  Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Try going to http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/System_Analysis_Utilities/Ultima_Port_Scanner.html here you can download the scanner.  Very basic and simple.  Let me know how this works for you.

If that does not work, try going to www.download.com and doing a search for port scanners.  You will find a few there as well.

Good Luck,

Try NMAP 3.75
www.insecure.org

you can also read a short story that's basically a good tutorial on how to use NMAP to dissect and decode any of the data that it gives, also it does a fairly good job of showcasing why you see Trinity using that tool in the 2nd Matrix movie.

I use this program on an almost daily basis.

it IS command line based but it's soooo easy it's be dumb to make a GUI for it.
(A GUI is availible if you're using *nix)

For sure Nmap is the best, no need for anything else ... including the GUI... hmm never noticed it was in the Matrix 2 movie... will have to watch for that now... As a matter of fact the author of Nmap has recently made the news ....

( http://www.prognosisx.com/cgi-bin/cgi-script/csNews/csNews.cgi?database=JanEE%2edb&command=viewone&id=55&op=t ) ....

and is very well respected by the whitehat community.
