creating a home network with server 2003

I'm thinking about creating a network here at home with a server and a cisco router for educational purposes.  What would i need to get and learn to achieve this?

    What exactly is that 'Educational purpose' ? Do u want to learn networking, routers.. etc.. then get a CCNA self help book and that would give you the basic information.
    But you would need atleast
    1) Router
    2) A couple of systems
    3) Network Cards
    4) Cabling
