php:creating dom objects from the xml data

                 I am trying to create dom object for an "xml file" Or "xml data".
i am using the function "xmldoc(xml_string)"  or  " xmldocfile($xml_file)".
but it is showing some fatal error "Call to undefined function: xmldoc()" or
                                                 "Call to undefined function: xmldocfile()"

plz help me to solve this problem

    check and make sure you have  php-domxml loaded...  you can see from a phpinfo() or if u are on a linux machine,

    rpm -qa | grep php
    check for the domxml rpm...
