arcserve back up problems

running arcserve 2000 advanced edition and the backup job is not running

i have recycled the job and checked the job configuration no entries are added to the activity log just when the last job has finished

it does read failed under job status but it is hard to fix as there are no errors in the activity log

any suggestions?

What is the error code?
What does BrightStorAB.log say?
What kind of job is it?>
Could be a Job or Tape Engine problem.

Run a copy job, since it does not use the Tape Engine.

Some general suggestions.
restart the system
close the manager, stop all the services, move the queue (dir 00000001.qsd) and let it be recreated.
check in the Device Manager window to make sure the tape drive is not locked,
check the name of the group the tape drive is in to make sure the job is submitted to use the same group

ok what i did was recreate the jobs and kept the full separate from the incrementals so hopefully this will be fixed now
it ran last night anyway so lets hope it will remain this way
