knoppix setup monitor

I am a newbie in linux world and I got a Knoppix bootable cd for a start.
I having a problem because I testing it in configuration with an old monitor (Philips 14" working on 640x480 60Hz on windows and this is the most it can do )
When I start Knoppix picture is well you can guess with distorsion small like much more resolution I have 3 pictures instead of one.
In short terms it cant be used for anything.
I dont even have a chance to try to setup display from its configuration tool cause I can see anything :(
Can anyone provide me some configuration file which can work or some other good solution that I can use to start my knoppix somehow.

I don't remember the exact key, but when knoppix boots it pauses for a while and says something like press F2 or F3 for more options.  Try them.  One of the keys will display a help menu that will describe how to get around this.  Instead of just hitting enter or waiting for it to time out, you have to say something like "knoppix screen=800x600 depth=8" and it will boot and only use a 640x480, 256 color screen.

When I start knoppix I dont have write permission to my hard drives (ntfs one and other is fat)
How can I fix this and what si default root password for knoppix which I m going to need to fix that probably.

Right click the drive and mount it.  Then right click it again and enable read/write access (exact menu names for these actions MAY be off, but they should be somewhat obvious).

There's a Knoppix menu you have to go to then start a console as root.  You can either do that to get root access whenever you need it and even change the root password.  (Obviously, only for that boot).

Hm both of my hard drives are ntfs I forget I make the other one (for backups) to ntfs too couple of months ago :( and that is a problem I think. They are mounted but I can write to it anyway. I heard about captive ntfs that provide write to ntfs disk from knoppix but I cant find it and installi it.

You might want to try Linux Defender Live -  It should have NTFS write support - but be wary - I've seen it posted several times by several people that NTFS write support is experimental at best and you COULD seriously corrupt your hard drive.

You'd be better off booting off a Windows CD and going into the Recovery Console.

Hm i was kind of wrong.
Not sure if this version have an ntfs write support but I create a little fat32 partition and I cant write to this one either. It have to be some permission issue there. I can write onlt to the temp folder of the knoppix and where this folder is actualy placed I dont know.
